I love Anni Kake myself. I have a new tine maybe 5 months old and another a bit older but it is almost gone. The older it gets the sweeter it gets. I had some 7 yrs old and it was heaven! Of course I smoked it up like a pig now its gone!

Going outside to smoke a Cob General (MM) with some franken baccy. Its all I have thats dry. Lots in fridge drying but none toasty just yet. The Franken baccy of odds n ends and some Drew estates 7th ave blonde.

I have a tin of Mississippi River but dont care for it much. Also a tin of Scottish Mixture and am undecided on that also. The Peter St Lux Bulls Eye Flake is pretty strong for me. maybe it will mellow with some age.

The H&H Anniversary kake is also decent to smoke. I need to buy a lot more to age so I always have some choices!

I had two firsts yesterday. Pete's University Flake. Nice Va flake with a hint of berry topping though not enough to qualify as an Aro. I really enjoyed this as a change of pace flake.
The second was Samovar. I'm not sure my words can give this blend the justice it deserves. An absolutely amazing Balkan. That said, don't buy any, it's horrible. I'll just go ahead and stock up to save you from yourselves.

Thanks for the heads-up on this blend Seth. It looks like a winner. Here's some other reviews on McClellands CPCC Samovar for your perusal:

I was afraid those reviews set my expectations too high as has happened in the past. TR can be a great tool but can just as quickly betray you.

Well, I've had no problems with the reviews. Its a matter of getting to know some of the characters writing those reviews and intuition. Taking those reviews from TR, and filtering with other reviews seen on PSF, Smoking Pipes, Pipes and Cigars, Pipes Magazine, and even from the folks here at CA.

But, if you hadn't twisted my arm so hard this morning, I would not have had to place an order this morning for 2 tins of Samovar and 8oz of John Patton's Storm Front

You're in for a treat Mark. I hope you like it. I think I'm going to grab some Wilderness and Legends next order as McC has some great blends that don't get the spotlight they deserve.

As for TR, you're absolutely right. I find I cross reference a lot and am now taking more notice of reviewers that seem to share my tastes. You have to laugh at the posts in there that seem to be reviewing a completely different tobacco ("sure you're in the right tab dude?").

So as not to derail this, I went with Samovar last night in a Savinelli full bent and cobbed some nightcap on the drive in to work this morning.

Tomorrow morning is set for a Comoys pipe and a new blend for me. Trout Stream. I have heard good things about it and it smells great opened bag!

Enjoyed a big bowl of John Patton' Storm Front in a new CAO meerschaum that I recently won over at *Bay. A really good tasting burley/cigar leaf blend

Thanks Bill and Darren. Bill, she smokes just fine! The bowl is wide open at the top, and then narrows slightly starting about half way down the interior of the bowl.

Storm Front uses a couple of cubed burley blends and cigar leaf. So, when the burn got down to that half way mark in the bowl, it started to narrow, and for a while, it tasted like I was puffing on a good stogie for a time...
