Same thing in all of MD. The running joke is you can carry a gun to protect large amounts of cash, but not your life.

Gun permits are at least fairly easy to get, lots of paperwork and a 7+ day waiting period for background checks (handguns), but no classes and no shooting tests. In fact I don't think I remember being fingerprinted...

7 day waiting period! Wow, you have my sympathy. Stupid gun grabbers. Here in Ohio, it takes longer to fill out the paperwork (4 minutes) than it does for the background check.

Thanks elderboy. Its a Remington 700 SPS varmint in .223. I love the heavy barrel and just put the bi pod on today. I would like to convert it to the detachable magazine version but I would have to change to stock or modify it

Got to get my pics up too. I have a Kahr TP9 that I CC. I have a Sig P245 that I try to CC and find it to damn big. I also have a Golani AK-47 Assualt rifle.

I am also looking to add a tacticle shotgun to the collection. Either a r
Remmington 870 or Mossberg 500.

There is no such thing as too big to cc, just may cause back problems and requires a pea coat

Well, after a month with the Kel Tec P11 9mm, and 6 misfeeds in under 150 rounds, I decided it wasn't the type of weapon I wanted to trust my life with.

They say you need to break them in and do some light sanding, etc to make them perfect, but I'm not a gunsmith nor a patient person. This may be a gun for some, but not for me.

I traded it in today and paid a little extra and left with a J frame Smith and Wesson 38 special airweight.

I was close to a Glock 19, but found this to be way more concealable and way lighter. The Glock just didn't seem to fit right in my hand and the S&W did. The S&W can be in my cargo shorts and feel no more cumbersome than a cel phone.

I freakin love this gun and put 50 rounds through it today with not a problem.

That is exactly what I did. I had the P11, but I didn't care too much for it. I sold the P11 to my brother and bought a J-frame. I carry the J-frame everyday. It is so light, you forget it is there

Biggest bonus is that it goes "bang" every time you pull the trigger, which is also a fraction as stiff as the Kel Tec was.

I've always been a revolver fan, but was talked into the P11. It has a cult like following and apparantly has great customer service.

Not likely I'll ever trade it in and hard to beat Smith and Wesson's track record.

It took a bit of adjusting on the range as I was shooting high. The Kel Tec is famous for shooting low. The salesman took me out and gave me some tips and it seems that this gun work best when you just point it at about chest height and go straight.

He was joking that I was hitting the silouette between the eyes everytime and I would look like judge, jury, and executioner if I ever went to court, God forbid.

I took a little loss on the trade and had put on the trigger shoe and belt clip and mag extender, but the S&W was on sale and I figure my life is worth it.

besides gun broker, are there any online resources to match buyers with sellers? I've noticed most on gunbroker are dealers and the prices for the most part aren't really any cheaper than my local shop (minus taxes of course). I don't mind having to transfer though a FFL, I just want to find something more local.

There's a rather extensive equipment exchange on a place called http://www.ar15.com

Could try there.

Hey Elderboy. Question;

With the Kel Tec, it was really picky about ammo, so I didn't skimp at the range.

I'm guessing the S&W will be like my old Taurus 357 and shoot anything I fed it, right?

The good stuff is only 6 bucks more for a box of 50, so maybe I should just do that?

Thanks.

Yep. The revolver will eat anything. I use Remington UMC ammo at the range. I use Speer Gold Dots for self-defense.
