Sitting in the sun on the back porch, reading, "The Old Man and the Boy" by Robert Ruark, and drinking home brewed IPA. Perfect.

Finishing a bomber of Oaked Unearthly IPA right now. Not usually a HUGE fan of oaked brews, but I have to say the oak really compliments the hops in this one.

On a more serious note, found out that Surly had to pull out of the Chicago market due to them not being able to meet the demand in even their home market. Apparently it is an indefinite pull out, and the barkeep I talked to said that it would be at least three months before they resumed shipments, and probably will take until the end of the year. Dang it! I can still find most of their brews around, but furious is nowhere to be found, at least not where I can go without a car.

Even in MN they've restricted their supply to basically the Twin Cities. They've stopped deliveries to out-state MN.

I can tell you what beer I'm NOT enjoying...

I just bought a sixer of Magic Hat's summer seasonal...the Wacko Summer. It's pink...and fruity. I hate fruity beers. Ugh.

I have a bottle of Philosophers chillin in the fridge right now. I love that stuff. I want to get a bottle and let it sit for a while and see how it ages.

21st Amendment Monk's Blood. It's decent, but it's not half the beer that La Fin du Monde is, at the same price. If I'm going to spend $10 on a 4 pack in the future, it's going to be on LFdM.

Well, I hope they expand enough to come back to Chicago soon.

Tonight I tried Southern Tier Mokah, I must say it is a great stout. It is a mix of their Jah-va and Choklat stouts and I loved it. At first all I could smell was chocolate then all I tasted was alcohol (its 11% abv). But after it warmed a little it became fantastic. I give it

Thanks to Richard for first turning me on to this brewery
