Just a hunch (I do this as well), I'm assuming the dates are so he knows how long his sticks have been aging, and when he needs so smoke them!

It's easier for rotation. Some NC's are better if smoked before they age too long and other's are better with a little age on them to bring out the flavor. It also helps me keep track of where and who they came from for a later possible bombing run...LOL

Thanks Gents, Its a White Clad box converted, From what I understand it was pretty popular, SOLID OAK, few of the guys on the board still have them, 1.5lbs beads in the bottom and no worries.
