I don't think it is American Made. If it was a Harpers Ferry model it would be stamped. Its possible it was used in the CW and then shipped back to Europe for use. I know a guy who bought a carbine in Afghanistan and it was used in the CW.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Just bought my first handgun and shotgun about a week ago.
The handgun is a Springfield XD40 and the Shotgun is an Escort 12 gauge pump action. Pics to follow soon. |

I wish I could shoot it. The barrel looks to be in good condition, the trigger and hammer all work well, but the percussion nipple is corroded enough that there's no opening to the main barrel. I imagine antique gunsmiths are few and far between these days. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Alright I ordered 1000 rounds of PMC .223 ammo from ableammo.com. Tonight I recieved an email saying...
Dear Customer, We have learned, that our PMC 223 will arrive the last week of February, possibly the first week of March. We did sit down with PMC, and negotiated a little better price. We also have negotiated with Fiocchi ammunition company a good deal on .223 ammo. We wanted to give you our customer an option, due to the delay on the PMC. 1. We can hold your order for the PMC, and continue to reserve it for you. We will adjust the charge per 1000 round case to $349.50 per case. 2. We can offer the same load in Fiocchi brand .223 for $349.50 per 1000 round case. Fiocchi, has notified us that they will deliver to us within the first two weeks of February. Both Brands of ammunition are brass cased 55 grain .223 FMJ. Please let us know how you wish us to proceed with your order. What Im wondering is should I take the PMC ammo or Fiocchi? Has anyone shot either of these loads or know which one is better?

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Haven't heard anything regarding Fiocchi.
PMC though gets about a 90% favorability with only 4% of users suffering an issue that'd prevent them from buying the ammo again. (This is being run through AR-15's) |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Well my uncle said to go with the PMC as well, both are military surplus. I decided to go with the Fiocchi as this is somethin like when you were a teenager and made a decision on the fly and when you tell your dad he smacks your head. All Im usin it for is in my bolt action Rem 700 doing small varmit and target shooting.
Hopefully I dont regret this but if it does suck I can always buy PMC and sell the Fiocchi to a friend.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Does anyone have info on Remington Shotguns Manufactured March 1959?
I received a Remington Sportsman 12 Pump Magnum and Im tryin to figure out what the model number is and what parts if I ever need them to get. It doesnt say 870 or anything like that and my uncles and another guy at work know a good bit about guns and they say it was probably made for Sears or a company like that to sell in their catalogs or maybe a Stevens (I highly doubt)

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I'm having a hard time tracking down a Nagant revolver... I don't want to go to gun broker because that's too slippery a slope for me, and costs seems to fly up.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
AIM is an awesome compnay to deal with. They are top-notch. I had a problem with an AK magazine that I bought. It was rusted to hell and back. I took the floor plate off and tried to sand the mag, but it wouldn't work. I called them and they just sent me a new one
