WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks will play an exhibition game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Winnepeg in the fall.

True North Sports & Entertainment Limited said Wednesday the Blackhawks will play the Lightning on Sept. 22 at the MTS Center.

The matchup will be the seventh NHL preseason contest hosted by Winnipeg since 1997. The game will be a homecoming for Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, a Winnipeg native.

Halak got traded to the Blues. I can't believe it after the performance he gave in the playoffs that he would get traded for 2 prospects.

The Habs said they needed to make a choice between Halak and Price as they couldn't pay two "starting" golatender salaries with the cap. I think they made the wrong choice, and like you all have implied, if they were going to trade him, they could have done better.

TORONTO -- The NHL's competition committee agreed Friday on a new head-shot rule for next season.

The committee, made up of players and GMs, met for four-plus hours at the NHL's Toronto office and ironed out the language for the new rule, which still needs approval from the NHLPA's executive board on Monday and from the board of governors on Thursday.

The new rule, which was first recommended at the GM meetings in March, would impose a five-minute penalty for a blindside hit to the head, with an automatic game misconduct. The league will also consider supplemental discipline.

The players tweaked some of the language in the new rule proposed by the GMs, but in the end both sides agreed to move forward with it.

Looks like Patty is looking for 7 mill. Guess he wont be a shark next year after all. 7 mill? I hope the rumor is false I cant see paying him 7 mill after he only has shown up this year in the playoffs after being a ghost for so many.

But it's all about "What have I done for you lately" in the NHL. Havlat didn't do chit for 2 years with the Hawks, then had a career year in his contract year. After signing a nice fat contract with the Wild, he took it down two notches again.

Which is sad and y I am at the point that if he wants to try to hold up the team I say GTFO. No way he is a 7 million guy. I think 4 given how the team stuck with him.
