Deep black, black black, with a dark brown thick head on it. More head than the BCS has. First off, this is a great beer,

Take the bourbon away from the BCS, add more hops and you have this beer. Thick and chewey, with a long, long finish. Chocalate. The hops do a nice job of cutting through the maltiness and alcohol. On the nose the hops are definitely in the forefront, and much more apparent than in the BCS. while the alcohol is sort of hidden (I don't know how much you can do to hide 12% abv), this still comes off a little boozy. Not as boozy as the BCS, but still boozy. In a good way.

I'm going to have to round somebody up to do a side by side comparison with the BCS and the NIghtstalker with me, maybe throw a KBS in there as well just for giggles. A stout off
Man Vic! That sounds good!
I'm gonna have to hunt a nightstalker down now... I think I saw it at the store Friday and passed it up.

I got one from a great mobster. I will compare it side by side with GI Bourbon County. I've heard it's the same beer just the GI BC is aged in bourbon barrels.

Should be fun.

The wife and I decided to try the new Nordeast edition of Grain Belt (I know, I know...no need to chastise me). It's made by Schell's for Grain Belt, and it actually not too bad. Light, and has a decent refreshment quality to it, though the Grain Belt undertones are there in the aftertaste. It's drinkable if you want something reasonably priced that doesn't completely kill the palate.

Name origins.

Went to Rogue Brewery and had Chatoe Rogue Single Malt, Mogul Madness, and a taster of their new Double Mocha Porter.

Was a fun evening with the wife. She had the Yellow Snow IPA and then the 200m IPA from the Eugene brewery.

Bar tender even came by with a mispour that he didn't want to throw out and gave it to us. Called it the 'patient couple' award.

While we were there, we also had mozzarella cheese bread made with a homemade hazelnut bread (made with hazelnut brown nectar). Also bought a loaf of that to take home. Then had a hazelnut cheesecake with a syrup made from their hazelnut rum. That was a nice end to the evening.

Nice, Warren!

Sitting on my deck smoking a Corona 10th Anniversary Nicaraguan Selection drinking a Blue Moon Grand Cru 2009. It's quite light and refreshing, compared to what I've been drinking lately. A hint of fruitiness in it to me.

Surly Furious. IMO a more drinkable beer than Abrasive Ale.

Troegs Nugget Nectar off the tap and into my growler. How this is an amber and not an IPA is beyond me. Huge white head with nice lacing. Really hoppy, but underneath you've got that classic amber ale flavor. Definitely a differnt brew

hop wallop -12 oz. bottle picked up from total wine a few hours ago, and all in all, not nearly bitter enough for me, and tasted like sweet honey. Not my style of DIPA, but not pissed I tried it. Thank goodness for singles though.
