My newest. Lots of folks seem to hate the Browning BDM, I love it.

Tim I may suggest if the XD feels weird to you sell it off. I know a number of people who have picked up XD's, put a couple hundred down range with it, then it becomes a safe queen because of the feel.
If you want something nice and trustworthy to carry I would suggest a S&W-M&P9 compact, or the 40 if you like 40 cal. Hell you can even go .357 compact in the M&P line. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Friend of mine had to be first kid on the block to get a Kimber Solo 9mm. So far it's been a real disappointment. Will not work with 115 grain ammo at all, you must go to 124 or 147 gr. for functioning. My buddy's Solo has additional feeding issues, it's been back to Kimber TWICE already and still, no joy.
Hopefully this particular handgun is an anomoly but somehow it doesn't seem like it. Kinda reminds me of the old Seecamp .32 acp semiauto--they only worked right with Winchester Silvertips, everything else was a gamble. While I can appreciate the idea of a gun being sorta "specialized"--in the case of the Solo, for self defense--if it's finicky or requires expensive ammo, who's going to fire one of them enough to be competent with the thing?

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Anyone know of any dealers with a Glock 24 in stock? I had one located a couple weeks ago but bought a Range Officer instead. Now I forget which dealer it was and haven't had any luck with google searches. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: First Firearm Thread.
My Kimber Solo went back to the shop twice for multiple problems. It's been replaced but I've yet to fire it. My view is Kimber pushed the design to the limit. Any limp wrist, weak ammo, etc. and you have problems. Mine had FTE issues even with ammo that's on the Kimber bullet list.

What are you shooting? I'm still toying with 175 gr .308 loads and am pretty consistent with 10" steel. 8" is 'hit or miss'. I can't keep the .308 supersonic and it's always moving a bit. Even more so when it gets Florida hot. I'm interested in building a .338 'something' When are you heading back this way again? My range is only about 2.5 hrs south of Brent's place. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Picked up my rifle at lunch today and put what I had on it after work today. Still waiting on the titanium can to be made and I have to drop the rifle off to be threaded next week. Last thing I want to order is a good cheek rest. Here's what it looks like right now. Factory test firing produced a .24 group with 3 shots.
