Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
I don't watch hockey much at all, but I watched most of tonight's game.
It was a great game! I will have to watch them all. I am rooting for Chicago. |

I was getting off work.
Ugly win....Hawks didn't really deserve it. Flyers outplayed them in the first 2 periods. Both goalies were hung out to dry on most of the goals, some real shoddy defense on both ends. I look for both teams to tighten it WAY up Monday. Toews V. Richards....Richards was better tonight. Pronger V. Byfuglien.....Buff held pointless. The role players came through big for both teams. Asham and Hartnell were great for Philly. Kopecky, Brouwer, Bolland and Hossa were big for the Hawks. Gonna be quite a series, me thinks.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Terrible D by the Hawks tonight, on one of the goals there were FIVE Hawks standing in front of the net and the puck went out to an uncovered Flyer. Need to tighten up on that D! Grateful for the win though!

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Both teams seemed to be playing sloppy. Especially the defense. And them pulling leighton was bs IMHO. But no matter what I'm still wearing my flyers jersey today.

Leighton seemed to be fighting the puck all night and didn't seem very confident. And like Niemi, the players in front of him weren't giving him much help.

Pierre LeBrun blog on ESPN questions whether Nik Lidstrom will be back next year. He ends that section with this:

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
What a crazy game last night...who would have guessed 11 goals? Pronger seemed to do a great job against Butthead. Unfortunately there were many lapses by other players. Hopefully Leighton can rebound as I believe the Flyers best chance is with him in net.
My fingers are too big for long posts on a mobile so I'll leave it at GO FLYERS!!!! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Word on NHL on XM today was that they were going to go with Boucher, but you know how BS tends to fly this time of year.
Pronger and Co. shut down the whole top line for the Hawks, though I think if another referee besides McCreary was in there, Pronger would have made a couple trips to the box. I look for Niemi to have his typical bounceback after a rough game, and give up far fewer than 5 tomorrow.

What scares me is now Patty is looking like he is going to test the market. The Wings are going to be desperate it looks to sign some players. Just may see some sharks with the red jersey on. To funny if D has to buy talent from SJ. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
fantastic game. glad they are starting leighton tonight, that last goal of the game by boucher which was game winner was really soft and showed his rustiness. philly also looked a bit tired at the end.
wish carcillo was playing they need him now for two reasons. his rough and tumble style, and he could play right wing on the first line, freeing up the former 50 goal scorer Carter to play the third line. right now with carter playing the right wing they have a fantastic first line but hurts their third line. The first line of gagne-richards-carter is great but playing in chicago, keith and seabrook matched up against them every time and shut them down. hope they can break through this game. buff should not be as much as a factor as he was against san jose, with pronger and coburn on two seperate defense pairings being able to handle him. will be a good one either way tonight. go flyers. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
The first period was the best period of hockey of the finals so far, IMHO. I agree with Milbury, the call on Betts was crap.
So far, I like Carcillo's addition to the lineup, I will continue to so long as he doesn't do anything stupid. The Hawks seem to be begging the refs for calls, which I like as a Flyers fan as long as the refs call the game and not the whining. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Ugh...what a crappy last 5 minutes of the 2nd period. First a terrible defensive play by Krajicek, then a weak goal given up by Leighton. Bartulis has looked tons better than Parent...playing like a solid 5th defenseman.
The Flyers are still doing a good job against Toews, Kane and Butthead, but they need to do a better job against Hossa...he's been the best Hawk forward (offensively), IMO. And, I have to give the Hawks defensemen credit, they are a solid group. |
