Anejo 46
I am not much of a reviewer, but I noticed there was not a review for this particular size of the widely loved Fuente Anejo line. The Anejo 46 is one of my top 10 NCs and I enjoy the flavors and construction of many of the Fuente line. I decided to pull one out this afternoon to relax and watch the Nationwide race.
This '08 corona gorda was purchased at Tampa Sweethearts and has been resting comfortably with some other single Fuentes in a varnished box in the Gator Vault. It is very dark and firm with just a few crystals of plume. The aroma was of strong tobacco and barnyard. It clipped cleanly and the pre light draw was strong and spicy with the perfect resistance. After toasting the foot the first draws were spicy. It has been a while since I've had an Anejo, but it definitely made me immediately think of the Tatuaje Verocu line. The first third included tastes of dark chocolate and cinnamon. As it moved into the next third the spiciness backed of a bit to the point where a snork and full nose exhale was possible. There is still full flavored, just so smooth. The strength however, has backed off to a very nice medium compared to the stronger first third. I don't notice the chocolate or cinnamon anymore. The dominate flavor is just a very clean tobacco taste with a medium long finish. The final third remained about the same in strength. A bit of the dark chocolate returns along with some very slight leather appearing for the first time. The smoothness remains. I am also tasting some roasted peanuts. As it heads to the finish the strength picks back up a bit and it is back to reminding me of the afore mentioned Tatuaje. The burn was razor sharp during the entire smoke. The ash was light grey and very firm. There was lots of smoke from beginning to end. Total burn time was about and hour and 30 minutes, but I smoked this a bit slower than normal as I was concentrating on the flavors more. While I don't smoke these often I really enjoy them. I love going to Tampa Sweethearts and will always pick up a handful when I am there. |

I was initially reluctant to try these because I have not been impressed in any way with Opus X line. I am glad I finally tried one. Now I only wish I could afford more of them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. At about $10 a stick retail it is not something I could smoke frequently. At Tampa Sweethearts though I usually get them for about $6.50 off of the specials board. I makes it reasonable to grab a handful.

Thanks for the review. I love this smoke. I just picked up two boxes of these in Double Corona, and Robusto. Can't wait to start burning them.

Re: Anejo 46
These are one of my favorites after about a year of rest, before that they just seem a little harsh to me.
