BUMP!!!!! I like my tequilas ok........
Question for you tequila nerds--> What do you suggest for Margaritas. I mean simple clean margaritas. NO MIX DAMMIT. I use fresh lime juice, Patron Citronge (cheaper than Cointreau and tastes the same), and maybe a dash of club soda. So with that said....what do you suggest for tequila and do you have a killer recipe I should try? I do NOT like spicy tequila. Thats the only catch for me. Usually, I use Silver or Reposado. |

For me, I do not use mixes any more either.
Fresh lime juice, agave nectar and tequila. Occasionally I add water depending on what type of agave nectar I buy (pure versus diluted). I know some people will say I am crazy, but I do like anejo in my margaritas. A margarita with Partida anejo is the way to go. |

Lime Juice, Soda and Tequila. Plain, simple and refreshing.
I may need to give the Agave Nectar a try though ![]()

Shack Herf will see a lot of tequila shots going down if it's anything like the last couple years.

Picked up a bottle of Chinaco Anejo tequila today as I wanted something a little different than my favorite, which is the Don Julio Anejo. After a tiny sip, it does seem quite impressive. Unfortunately, it was $15 more/bottle.

Mostly depends upon how much you want to spend. Don Julio is always good. I also like Cazadores Reposado as a moderately priced yet tasty choice.

I just saw the ad in an airline magazine. Anejo does not age very long and are they aging it in wood that does not color it or is processed after it is aged?
For me Reposado is good balance of age without losing too much tequila taste.

So, I'm currently looking at tequila.net reviews and there are several highly rated anejos that are listed in the $35-70 range-more so than the very high priced stuff. It will be a miracle if I don't find a place and order several bottles online.

After looking at a number of reviews, I've got it "narrowed" down to just 13 anejos and having a hell of a time eliminating any of these:
1) Corrido 2) Don Pilar 3) Peligroso 4) Azunia 5) El Jimador 6) Casa Noble 7) Don Julio 8) El Tesoro 9) Siete Leguas 10) Don Lunas 11) 4 Copas 12) Partida 13) Riazul I'd prefer to keep my initial tequila "inventory" to be about half of that size. So far, the "musts" seem to be Partida, El Tesoro, Don Pilar, and Riazul. Any suggestions? |

From what I am seeing, Herradura isn't a highly rated anejo. Obviously, ratings are subjective whether it involves cigars or tequila, but I'm more inclined to start out with several that are rated much higher and sound more appealing from the tasting notes I've read thus far.

Espolon & Casa Noble are two brands of Tequila I quite enjoy; how are their Anejo's rated?
