Woodford Reserve is a straight Kentucky bourbon.
Crown Royal, Johnny Walker...those are blends. I've never had JW, but have had my share of Crown (mixed with coke, before I knew better).

I'm a big J.D. fan. If you're looking for a straight up drink, go for the Gentlemans or a little better the single barrel. I've had a few of their single barrels and each one has had a different drinking experience.
Also just picked up a Knob Creek, it wasn't the regular one it was a better blend. Can't remember the actual name though.

Johnny Walker Black. An affordable classic that beats the Red by a mile.

Re: Favorite blended whisky?
Blended Scotch, Irish or Canadian Whiskey?
Scotch - Chivas is my favorite of all the blended Scotches. Johnny Walker Red or Black ( honestly I actually kind of like the Red a little better but most people will say they greatly prefer the Black). Irish - Jameson is my favorite. Bushmill's is a little rough for me. Canadian - For me, it doesn't get much better than Crown Royal but V.O. is not too bad.

JW Black.
I will certainly drink red if it is offered to me, but I prefer the smokey/peaty aspects of black.

Re: Favorite blended whisky?
And same for me with the reverse. I'll certainly drink the Black if it is offered but in a bar all save 30% or 40% on my bar tab and have the Red.

If I could have only one regular priced liquor, JW Black would be it. Beyond a Classic, it's the benchmark for the industry.

Black Bottle - Blend of all the Islays
Chivas 18 - Best tradeoff for quality/price Chivas 21 Royal Salute if you don't care about price, Chivas 12 if you do Famous Grouse 12 I like Chivas better than JW, but this worked out the other night: |
