Default Nub,3 wrapper & 3 experiance

Nub cigar is among the cigar that i eyeing for quite a while... In Malaysia..where cc are not forbidden, its kinda hard to get nc cigar... the brand that available are just padron (a lots),oliva (rare),don diego, macaduno, davidoff, and another 2-3 brand that i dont think that you ever want to smoked them... and these cighar are sold in very ridiculous price...

don't get me wrong... i do love cc..its just that its freaking expensive...plus i would love to explore the other makers... so what choice do i have?god bless internet.

going back to nub... after receiving the cigar ,i put them rest for a moth..before i take them out and have a smoke... base on what i have read... i really put a high expectation for these sticks...

so here my very noob and novice review...

Nub Connecticut 354

this is my 1st nub,the wrapper show a flawless wrapper with out any visible vein... very light colour and light tobacco aroma when i running it under my nose... seem like it has a very thin wrapper... i pair this stick with soda and water

the draw has a nice resistance..just nice(i like a bit tighter)... first draw a get a hint of spice, then its dissappear then i can taste toasted butter...and some other taste ..maybe a cedar..or wood... a hint of coffee...but very light... remind me of don diego robusto..To me..this stick fall to mild to medium bodied cigar..

i got a lot and thick smoke...just the way i like it... the ash hold quite strong but when it came to have way... its started to bend or brake...you can see the picture... nearly toward the end i try to make it stand... but fail.. the foot just cracked a bit and cannot hold a stand...

for me,this stick is not up to my expectation... but i think i has a lot more to offer...i still have another 2 connie..might give a try after few months..

nub Cameroon 358

after a week,i decide to try a Cameroon wrapper...That day was a motogp In malaysia.Since my friend failed to get me a ticket.,i just watched it in my house.

i paired this stick with ice tea and water.

This stick remind me to Oliva G, dark and toothy wrapper and got a sweet smell.upon toasting..i smell an espresso...ah great...

the draw is a bit tighter than a connie, just the way i like it.it produce a lot of smoke... this stick give me a lot of espresso taste and a bit of dark choc... a bit of sweet and creamy...i love this stick... each taste keep compliment each other and it keep repeating the taste..one after one..To me..this is medium smoked..

the ash is solid and strong... i think i can made a nub stand this time but it fail..a bit of ash from the foot cracked and leave uneven surface which make it hard to stand.

overall.. i love this wrapper.

Nub Habano 460

i've been waiting to smoke this stick since it has a great review.
last nite i have the opportunity to have this stick. It was rite after dinner with my better half.i take this stick out..running it under my nose...give me a smell that remind me of cc tobacco smell... great... the dark wrapper remind me of my local cigar "de-kayang"..with dark and obvious vein through out the stick. But thats all...

the cigar is strangely lighter...compare to the other nub...toasted it and had a 1st draw.WTF! the draw is farking loose! like sucking the air through a straw! the worse is.. i just can taste a bit of spies then it disappears, left me nothing but a very harsh tobacco taste(if i can call it a taste)

the big disappointed begin.i drank water... purge a few times.. wash my mouth... drank another glass of water but it seems that i cannot get any taste beside the harshness...is this a fullbodied kick? i dont think so... i dont feel any kick at my head... .i smoked a few full bodied cc and i know this is not a full bodied kick..

unlike its brother... this stick cannot hold it's ash.it broke like a cigarette ash..the burn is uneven... and at one point its tunneling... how can it be... i put it in the same tupperdor with other nub... it can be because of the humidity.plus..it has certain area that feel very hard.it fell crunchy when i try to pinch it.not spongey like the other cigar.

i try to make it to halfway..but i fail..after 1 inch or so.. i decide to ditch this stick... what a shame.i really looking forward to this wrapper and end up with this big dissapointment.

am i get a lemon? i hope so,if not...its a total disaster for a big name like sam and oliva.maybe i give it another try .

i love oliva and i have high expectation toward this nub.luckily the cameroon is the savior.

so thats my noob review.credit to my friend for snapping shots for the connie stick and my fiance' for the habano shots(her dgcam).

Great reviews Asyraf.

Please don't compare the nubs to the regular Oliva sticks, I love Oliva but can't stand the nubs (except for the Limited Edition barberpole which I liked, haven't tried the maduro yet). The nubs don't live up to their hype.

Great reviews. I really like the Nubs, especially the Habano. Don't know what happened with the one you had, but I would recommend you give them another shot if you can.

I had a similar experience taste wise.
The Connecticut had some nice flavors but was too mild.
The Cameroon had the most flavor.
The Habano was too harsh..

As far as the size...
I don't mind the occasional big ring gauge cigar,I do mind the length.
Big deduction for it being so short.

Thanks for the review Asyraf.

I really like the Nubs myself, but I have found that they are not as consistent from cigar-to-cigar as the Olivas. Be patient and try another one.

I found your reviews to be spot on.

I hated the Connie - too light
I liked the Camerooon - brown sugar taste
I hated the Habano - too harsh
I love the Maduro.

I'm halfway through one of my nub connies...

and it is quite boring... not sure but it just seems to lack flavor... I'll try to pay closer attention for the flavors gbum mentioned... bc there is NOTHING to me...

My palate is fairly "n00b" but I've tasted more in most other things I've smoked...

Thanks for the reviews and pic's.

When I worked at the shop I tried the three when they came out.

The Cameroon was the best out of the three for sure. I tried a maduro before they came out and it wasn't good imho. I took the maduro wrap off and it tasted better.

Not a big fan of large RG smokes so I made sure I grabbed the torpedo's and just clipped a little off.
