Default fave Aristocrat wood selection

I keep vacillating between building a walk-in and going the Aristocrat route. I love natural hardwood furniture (ask anyone who have been over to the house ), so I tend to head over to Bob's site to drool over woods on occasion.

All our hardwood furniture (with the exception of the cabinets in the kitchen) are cherry. I love the way it get darker and more 3-dimensional with time. As result, most of the I would like to own from Bob is, of course, in cherry.

What are your fave woods if you ordered from Aristocrat?

Here are my current top faves. 1st is cherry with quilted maple inlay and the second is all mahogany.

Not interested in glass doors as it would wind up in the living room, most likely.

The Quilted maple is georgous and is the wood I'm using on my latest project, but the book match crotch would definitely be my choice in this case. Both are absolutely beautiful though.

Since my house has Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors, I decided to go with Dark Red Mahogany. Bob sent me a couple of images he found to make sure we were talking about the same flooring.

Then out of the blue, he sent me an email telling me he was sending me two wood samples so I could compare two potential stains. He said the only way to know which would look the best was to compare them in the actual room where the humidor would be.

I told him I wanted it darker, but we ended up going with the ligher of the two stains. It looks great in the room.

I am extremely happy with my selection.

Mark - what size are you looking at? I definitely recommend measuring where you think it will go to see how much room it will take up. I didn't realize how deep 25 inches is until I was trying to find a good place for mine. Let's just say, it didn't look good where we thought it was going to go.

I went with a dark red mahogany. It blends in well with our mahogany flooring and my dark oak den furniture. It's been a very worthwhile investment.

That is what I have too. It's pretty. Really comes down to what furniture you want the humidor to match. I picked the nickel knobs too, not much for brass anything.

I would suggest getting the lock whether you need it or not. Once it's built, it's too late to get a lock easily.
