Barrel-aged beer
I'm working on sourcing some barrel-aged beer for a future episode of my podcast and thought the Asylum would be the perfect community to poll. I'm looking for some really good barrel-aged beers that can be found in bottles. We do the show at home, so tap beer isn't going to work for us.
I already have a friend sending me some Innis & Gunn from Canada since it doesn't seem to be available in LA. What else should we try? |

The best is Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. It says right on the bottle "a great cigar beer". It runs about $18 a 4pk!

Re: Barrel-aged beer
I do like the Goose Island, but I found Founder's Backwoods Bastard Stout a little tastier.

Re: Barrel-aged beer
Old Dominion makes an oak barrel stout, but I think the version in the bottle is different then what is on tap.

I like Old Dominion's Oak Barrel Stout, never had it on tap though.
Been meaning to try Allegash, local beer store seems to have most of 'em on the shelf. http://www.allagash.com/beer.htm And Dogfish Head has one that's... unique http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits.../red-white.htm |

Not sure how easy it would be to find out there or out of season, but Rahr's Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer is awfully tasty.
