Gonna eat Sun Chips and a Moon Pie today. Supposed to be 91% eclipse here, it's cool and all but not worth getting in a mass of humanity to get into the 100% zone further south. I am going to check "gas buddy" in the totality belt to see how much the eclipse chasers are getting hosed.

I was going to bring my arc welding helmet to work, but it's only a #12 gold and you're supposed to have a #14 for viewing. So, it looks like I'm watching it on the internet.

Hosed not just in gasoline prices, but lodging as well. I don't even want to know how much a hotel room would cost in the total zones

Glad I saw a tip online to look at the shadow of tree leaves if they're dense enough to only let a little light come through, the picture on the left was when it was at it's peak (92% totality according to the internet), the one on the right was a few hours later to compare, same tree

Only about 70% here, so Joisey not as much in the dark as much of the nation. Watched it the two safest way possible . . . first half on TV, then went out with a cigar and stood under a tree, looking at the shadows like Ben above.

It was mostly cloudy for the beginning of the eclipse. About 15 minutes before totality, a big blue hole appeared in the clouds over the ballpark. We got a perfect view. Amusingly, the players all laid down in the grass with their solar glasses on. Quite a sight in itself.
