PDR Sungrown Habano La Cubano No. 5 - Lancero
Size: 7.25 x 38
Wrapper: Sun-Grown Habano Binder: Habano Filler: Dominican and Nicuragua Body: Medium Strength: Medium Smoke Time: 1.75 Hours Construction: Solid construction. Slight sponginess. Beautiful wrapper that is justthe most perfect shade of chocolate brown. Pre-Light Aroma: The cigar puts off a tobacco and cocoa aroma off the wrapper. The foot presents a faint hay and manure. First Third: First light gives a solid tobacco flavor with a little bit of spice. The spice is found more in the retrohale. The smoke through your nose is not smooth, but not terrible rough either. As we smoke into the first third, coffee shows develops into the primary flavor with wood being the dominate. These flavors continue to increase as the pepper flavor smooths out. The ash will promptly drop into your lamp at 1.5 inches, so I recommend tapping it off before then, unless you like ash on your britches! Second Third: At the half way point the cigar is at a medium body and medium strength. The pepper kicks back up very noticeably, but isn't harsh. Cocoa joins in with the pepper. Final Third: The cocoa that came in at the half way point is gone. Pepper is much stronger, and burns in the retrohale. Strength has ramped up and some earthiness comes in. Last Thoughts: My current favorite cigar from PDR. Lancero is an awesome size and is the best vitola of this cigar. Great morning stick, goes great with coffee! https://youtu.be/dwEwdlNiXh8
