Re: Virtual A-10A cockpit
Green scope in the upper left was one of mine. In a bird WAY older than this, lol. Radar Warning Receiver.
If you saw a number in a circle, someone had eyes on you. If the circle got enclosed in a diamond they were tracking you. Lord help you if they both started to FLASH. As a side note, "looks kinda uncomfortable" is sort of right. But I have never sat in a fighter that was comfortable. The A-10 is surprisingly spacious. But the seats have power tilt and up and down, so you could tolerate it for reasonably long periods. The cushion is almost 4 inches thick and pretty dense foam. But that only covers your butt. The rest is very uncomfortable. The corners cut to make it fully ejectable are many. Now that I look at it, on the right wing is another one of my old devices. The one with the black nose radome. IT LOOKS to be an AN-ALQ-119 radar jamming pod. COULD be a later model, but I am pretty sure it is a 119. The 131 that came next was more boxy. Last edited by OLS; 05-19-2014 at 02:02 PM. |

Re: Virtual A-10A cockpit
Good work Brad. I dug around in the site a little but had no time to do what you did.
I think I figured the F16 out enough to take off in one. I suppose I could use the ejector seat if I didn't think I could land it. I'm ready to give it a try.

Re: Virtual A-10A cockpit
That's the Air Force museum in Dayton, Ohio that has such a nifty site! Incredible that the idiots in charge want to do away with the A-10!

Re: Virtual A-10A cockpit
The A-10 will be in service when I am dead and gone, I have EVERY confidence.
There is nothing more the pentagon likes to do than rattle people's chains about this program or that. They claim to be advocates, ultimately, for their fighting men. There is not a single person that puts on the uniform outside that building that wants to see the A-10 go away. This is more BS related to procurement, but after seeing the F-35 go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on without ever seeing the first one in service, I don't think the Pentagon could find it's a55 with either hand. Not sure I would ever believe another thing they have to say, them or their cuddle buddies in the defense contractor biz. |

Re: Virtual A-10A cockpit
I looked at the Memorial Park area, and found my way to the MOH awardees section. Just reading the citations gives me a new sense of respect for pilots.
