Switch to tequila. It put one of my friends to sleep in a couple hours in August.

Re: "Magic Number" of beers.
That pic is priceless!!!
I have a rule when I drink no matter what it is...."thou shall not fall into slumber," things like that can happen, and sometimes worse!

Re: "Magic Number" of beers.
I have 2 kids. I have a harder time staying awake than falling asleep once 9:30pm rolls around.
Though I will say, there was a time before kids when I was going through a rough time, and routinely stayed up past 3am. Vodka always worked for me. 2 martinis. Or 2 strong screwdrivers.

Or you could walk to the driving range and pick up golf balls for hours.

Re: "Magic Number" of beers.
This. Drinking is expensive, why waste the money just trying to fall asleep after you finally catch a buzz? Not only is exercise free, it's good for you on physical and mental levels, and once you push past the first half hour the natural opioids will make you feel great.

Re: "Magic Number" of beers.
Beer is a tasty beverage, not a medication, and short of being so hammered you pass out, alcohol doesn't induce sleep in someone who isn't tired. Exercise, reducing caffeine intake during the day and not eating late at night all can help with insomnia. If you feel the need for a chemical remedy, 50mg of benedryl and or a valerian supplement will do far more for you then a couple of beers.
