Watched the Old Timers games today. I did not know that Hideki Irabu had hung himself last year.

The Red Sux are not done yet, and they still are
missing Justin and now Poppy.
But they looked great yesterday, with Ells and Craws
back in the outfield and reaching for hits.
Still a valid threat imo.

Kick this back up..... I'd liek to see some stability in the lineup - is balancing lefty-righties really that important? How much more data do you need before putting Curtis in a different spot?

Curtis GranderK is really killing things lately. It is time for K-Long to work with him on strike zone recognition.

We will take him back, you can have Delmon Young for him.

Hoping C.C. doesn't have his best of nights tonight.

How about GranderK & Joba for Cabrera?

Different Cabrera - let Lish go since he'll want 15mil and take Melky back for 8.

It's August, and they couldn't hit Price or Verlander. Not good at all in the playoffs when you can't take advantage of small ball situations.

Yeah, you're right. Nobody gets tired in the dog days of August, and everybody else seems to hammer those two journeymen all over the ballpark.

Is there a Bravo Smiley?

All this talk about the Yanks not being able to win with the long ball is silly!
First off, none of the Rotations of the playoff contenders is deep this year!
They may have an ace, but after that, they all get shaky.
The two teams everyone is worried about, Detroit and the Angels, haven't been able to get out of their own way this year.
Why? Because their pitching isn't as good as it has been.
People forget, both those teams are now Slugging teams.
The small ball Angels are gone!!!
And Detroit didn't bring Prince Fielder in to bunt!
Typically, the're going to have to out slug the Yanks to win!
Also, remember this year the wildcards play a 1 game playoff, to see who gets in.
Which means if it's those two teams, one will be eliminated.
That also means, If its one of those teams and the Orioles, well its a 1 game playoff, anything can happen!!
Just relax, you are all but guaranteed October baseball!!!
How many Met fans would give their left nut to say that?

I would like to see Ichiro put in the leadoff spot for a week and see how he does with Jeter hitting behind him.

Lineup looks better tonight, Girardi listening apparently. Would like to see Ichiro 9th before Jeter.

Even up....Tigers gave 'em a scare, though.

Looking forward to the rest of the series, these teams can hit.
