Default Heads up

Slightly ticked off for not doing what you say you are going to do....Most of us usually search the net to find the cheapest prices for a cigar we wish to order. I am interested in a particular one and went to a few sites and had a good ballpark idea what the avg price would be. I then went to Cheapercigars.com because they advertised they will beat any price guaranteed, just call them. I did and when I told them the brand, they said they wont match or lower the price on that one. I told them their advertisement says that they would beat any price, but, again, he said he would not do that.
Basically, their advertisement is a scam just to get you to go to their site and that ticks me off. It isnt the few bucks, it is the dishonesty involved. So, for what it is worth, this site (cheapercigars.com) is not what it is advertised as. Also, they were $10 higher than the cheapest price for the cigar I was looking for. I would spend my money elsewhere!

Some of us prefer to pay a few dollars more for service. Price is not the only factor when making a purchase. I also checked the site and saw no details of a price guarantee. There is a small box on the right side with an Acid logo, but no details.

IMO I believe it to be separate than what the OP stated. Maybe the vendor A believes he has the lowest price. Does not necessarily mean vendor A will lower the price or match if vendor B else offers it for less.

I didn't check every single brand they have, but clicked on a few and that is what's on the cigar pages.

This has nothing to do with paying a few dollars more. This is about making statements on your website that you are not willing to back up.
He should be stating my prices are a few dollars more but I have better service

Thanks for checking this out Forrest. I am on the email list and that is where I got my information. This is part of what I read on their recent email..."We'll Beat Anyone's Advertised Price, and if you can find a lower advertised price, simply call our
Toll Free Number at 1-888-676-7774". Seems to me that is a pretty straightforward statement. Anywho.... the guy has missed the part on ethical practices and let it go at that. My only out is to not buy from him and inform others of his way of doing business. Done!

Technically, they legally have to match or beat that price if he advertised with that statement. False advertising.

I have checked out this site as well, nothing cheaper about them. If in fact they offer to beat or meet other company's prices and then refuse to do so,there is your answer. No sense in whining, just spend your $$$ with a company you trust that offers customer service and wants to keep your business.............

Just another bad marketing scheme. Move on to another vendor like www.egars.com or www.cigarsatyourprice.com

I don't see this as whining...

He came onto a discussion board and gave information on a company others may find useful. When I go on a cigar search and find something appealing, I always search the shop on this forum to see if a BOTL here has had experience with them....

Anyway, in the end....I always appreciate shop information....good or bad....

Thanks for the feedback... I did receive some information from a company with similiar advertising and I wrote them a short note asking why they could not match or lower the price on the cigar I wanted. Here's the response...

"Chuck
Unfortunately their are some products that we are not as competitively
priced as other websites. Some of the online retailers are owned by the
manufacturers of certain cigars and are able to get them at a much lower
prices than we are able to get them at. There are a lot of products on the
site that has pricing that is significantly lower than our competition.
There are also brands that we just can not match some of our competitions
prices on. In this case El Rico Habano is one of them.
David K"

I think that is a fair response and made lots of sense, especially in this business where $$$ rules and bulk purchases are leading the way to squeeze out smaller companies. I am thankful for the response and have a better understanding of their advertising. However, I am of the mind that if you cant do something, dont say that you can.
