Default Alec Bradley Harvest Selection '97

Just a quick review. Yesterday, I smoked an Alec Bradley Harvest Selection '97 double toro that I picked up from CI in August '08. Price, about $5.

Cut with a Xikar. Pre-light draw was real easy, almost like it was too loosely rolled. Smelled good and looked good. Construction was great and the band was real nice.

Cigar started out mild-medium. Slight nutty and fruity, almost sweet tasting at times. At about the 1/3 point, strength increased to a solid medium. So far, so good.

Last third, cigar took a downturn. Taste just wasn't that great. Kind of bland.

Overall burn was good and even, needed one relight during that last third, perhaps contributing to the poor taste at the end. Draw throughout was loose, but good. Cigar did not overheat.

I would give it a 5 out of 10, but I would be willing to give this cigar another try. I know it's not fair to judge a cigar by only 1 smoke.

Nice review, and great pics. I thought the Corona I had was decent, but not great.

The robustos are a nice value smoke -- not extraordinary, but a step above your average yard gar, I think. The aroma is more impressive than the flavor. I reviewed it on my cigar blog here.

I agree about the aroma. Very woodsy. Mostly cedar. I like these for the money.
