Default Kentucky Gentleman

Has anyone heard of a cigar named Kentucky Gentleman? I went to Argosy Casino this morning and in their humidor they had this cigar for 14.50. I passed and got a Padron instead.

The website is http://www.kentuckygentlemencigars.com

I'd never heard of them either until your post. Flavored cigars with tobacco aged in Blantons bourbon barrels. Sounds interesting. Not cheap though.

The Blanton's Bourbon isn't bad. Several of my friends get them frequently, though i would guess it has more to do with the bourbon than the tobacco. They aren't flavored, but rather aged in the same barrels that were previously for bourbon.

Not worth the price, exactly, but still not bad.

I would have gone with the Padron as well...

Overpriced IMO. It's great to see a "home grown" company like this, and especially one trying to use leaf grown in the States. They are using dark-fired tobacco to "tip" the caps. While it makes an interesting flavor, the leaves are too thick to use for an entire wrapper.

I bought a couple at Schwabs, in Lexington, KY last summer. Apparently, they were slow moving, as they had them outside the humi and on closeout special. I'd buy more at that special, but certainly not for what these guys are charging on their site.

Doc Stogie did an article and review last year, and posted back on the old CS.

Another "domestic" is Black Patch Cigars. They are using KY-grown cigar leaf in their cigars, either as part of the filler or as a wrapper. Not a bad smoke, but they are a little high at $7 plus/stick, IMO.

I'm actually in Louisville right now hitting some of my accounts and saw these. Never heard of them before. I may pick one up and check it out at some point. I like the idea of the wrapper being aged in bourbon barrel's. Could be interesting.

I kind of liked the flavor coming off the dark-fired tip. It was a decent stick, just not good enough to me to justify what their MRSP is.

I see these whenever I go to one of my local louisville shops. They look like they're well made, but for the 12-15 dollars, I just haven't picked one up.
I'll probably wait until my girlfriend picks one up for me!
