Default Carpet extractor

So why did I not know about the magic of spot extractors until now?

A friend who owns a few motels on the Oregon coast clued me in a few weeks ago when I complains that after the Hoover upright carpet shampooer died, it was a pain to scrub stains (mostly ground in dirt) from the carpets. He mentioned that extractors and said that he has 2 at the house and I could borrow one for as long as I liked. Well, let me tell you!

The Minuteman Gotcha is one heck of a unit. Simple, easy to use, makes a manly noise (like a belt sander) and cleans voraciously. Did several carpet spots, mostly wear patterns, and the 15' couch and it was amazing. Because of the dogs, the couch made the dirty water look more like weak coffee but that was the point.

Anyone use these? This brand costs about $100 more than the average bid that I got for cleaning and treating the microfiber couch, so I'm more or less sold. My friend only recommended 2 brands, this and maybe Tennet?. He's tried almost all on the market but the Gotcha has stood up to daily use in the motels for three years and running.

Carpet extractors are great for cleaning and maintaining carpets, and furniture. The best ones have on board heaters as hot water cleans better than cold. Also minimize the use of soaps (shampoo) as they attract more dirt.

Good info, Mark! I use/have a Bisel upright carpet cleaning machine with attachments. On my second one and it works pretty good for cleaning both carpet and funiture.

I use the Bissell Spot Bot. It has a rotating brush unit that you set on top of a stain, push the button and it does all the work while you watch. Works very well. It also has the standard suction hose thingy that I use on spots where the brush doesn't reach and to shampoo the car interiors as needed.
