College Lacrosse Thread 2012

I know I can't be the only lax junkie on here.

Whos ready for some darn good games this weekend? Maryland at Carolina at noon Saturday, followed by Hopkins(GO HOP!) at UVA at 2 on ESPNU.

Just pulled up the stream of the G'town at Loyola game for the evening as those two always give eachother a good bit of trouble. Stream here.

So who do y'all support and how far do you think they're goin in the tourney(if you think they'll make it)

If a mod could please add an 'e' to the end of 'lacrosse', I managed to herp my derp when typing the thread title.

And an update on the game: Loyola's out to an early lead, but Georgetown's offense is lookin sharp too so we'll see how long that lasts.

I used to go to the LA Riptides games at the Home Depot Center until the franchise went bankrupt. Not popular enough here in CA

Which is sad. Theres a decent sized CA lacrosse fanbase, but its spread out so much throughout the state to get a hotspot. Loved the old SF Dragons unis.

I'm determined to go to a Charlotte Hounds game now that theres a team in NC. Just gotta wait for my Lizards to make a trip down here.

Anyone catch either of the games today?

Both were great, but Hopkins just barely gettin the W over UVA took the cake for me. Number 1 team in the nation baby! That Carolina-Maryland game got feisty at the end. Cheap hit 41 of Maryland had there, which should have earned an ejection on its own, not to mention comin back and goin for the jugular on the Carolina player.

3 straight games on ESPNU tomorrow starting at 1. Of course the marquis game will be my JHU Blue Jays beating the snot out of Carolina at 6:30.

Just got in from an out of town trip, watching a great game between the Terps and JHU. 6-5 in the third atm.

Been watching this game for just over 1 quarter and MD's up 3 goals on JHU!! With 1:47 to go! Go Terps!

I pulled my monitor outside to watch the game online. Things were thrown at the wall. Many things. Including the last third of my cigar that I was too pissed to continue smoking.

It was a good game on y'alls part. My Jays just couldn't score in the second half to save their lives. After that Carolina game I was beginning to think we needed to bench Boland until Petro was satisfied with the offense in practice since they had only played a game and 3 quarters with Boland. Everyone wants to feed to him so if you shut him down you stop the offense. I was hoping the streak without Boland, with wins over Syracuse and UVA, would teach the offense that they don't need him per se, he's just a nice extra thrown in that'll score lots of goals for ya. Apparently they didn't, and this game proved it. Hopefully the offense will get better before the tourney, but I'm not optimistic.

Two rematches in next weekends games:
-Loyola and Denver are playing for the third time this season, Loyola won both previous matchups, but Denver took it to OT in the ECAC semis
-Hopkins gets another shot at Maryland with the offense actually clicking again after getting thrown outta whack with the return of Boland.

I don't think I could be more stoked for a weekend of lacrosse. LETS GO HOP!

One of my favorate ex-girlfriends was a Grayhound, and I loved playing on their campus. Wouldn't mind seeing them take it all this year.

Kevin Corrigan's(Notre Dame's head coach) cousin was one of my rec league coaches and one of my favorite coaches I've ever had, so I always root for Notre Dame(unless they're playin Hopkins or Denver, I'm a Tierney fan).

Y'all played well. Our defense looked horrible. I was working so I had to get up and take some boxes out back to break up boxes and throw them in the dumpster to relieve some stress. It wasn't so much losing, as much as it was losing to Maryland. The one rivalry I take more seriously than any other sports rivalry. My "distaste" for UMd will force me to root for the Dukies Saturday(and I'll hate myself for every last minute of the game for it ).

Terps opened a can of wOOp a$$ and if it weren't for a couple of late goals from dukes bench the Terps would have doubled up the score. I think Loyola might have a game on their hands.

Either way Monday plays out is been a great season. Best news, duke is watching from the sidelines.

I would say the better news is Cuse is watching from the sidelines

First game I ever saw was the 1999 Semifinals matchup between Hopkins and Cuse. I rooted for Hopkins cuz they were the team in blue(cut me some slack, I was 8) Cuse eventually won that and I've never forgiven them. Luckily UVA beat them two days later(hence why I'm a slight UVA fan)

Gonna head up to the shop in a bit to sit around and smoke a couple while watching Loyola hopefully win.
