Default Anyonemake their own pipe(s)?

Seeing a documentary on how pipes are made made me wonder if this was something done as DIY projects by CA guys. So who's done this in the past?

Feel free to post pics off course

Already found out that Sr Mike made his own briar pipe and boom made a corn cob

P.S. i'm no pipe smoker, but was just wondering. If i ever pick up pipe smoking this might be the way to go for me though
Although starting pipe-smoking and making a pipe are both something for the future.

If I had the skills and the tools to do it, I would. Heck, I envy those who have decent woodworking skills.

Same here. I'm guessing it might take me quite some tries before i succeed in creating something even remotely usable (let alone good looking)

I have pretty much zero artistic capability, but for some reason or another I decided to buy to pre-drilled briar blocks from Mark Tinsky when I ordered a pipe from him as well. I just thought it would be a fun thing to try and do. Naturally, I am no expert or anything, but I definitely made something that is pipe shaped and certainly smokeable. There were a few minor flaws in the wood though, just sand pits. So I am waiting to stain the pipe and then rusticate it before staining it again. After that I may take some pictures. The hardest part of making your own pipe is getting the proportions right so that it doesn't look clunky. You really don't need to get too many tools if you are just using the pre-drilled kits. I made mine with a Dremel, a few rarely used files, and a bunch of various grit sandpaper. It's a fun thing to try, but I definitely have to give props to the guys that essentially turn it into an art form. That certainly takes talent.

Would love to see some photos during the process!
