Default Casa Fuente robusto

In June 2009 I visited Las Vegas for a herf with a bunch of friends and I bought a sampler of the world famous Casa Fuente cigars. I already smoked the Double robusto and the churchill and to end the year in style, I decided to grab another Casa Fuente, the 5¼x50 robusto this time.

The cigar is wrapped in cellophane with a golden "Casa Fuente" print. The wrapper is medium dark, covered in veins, shiny and oily with a beautiful band and an orange cloth band at the foot. The cigar has a mild wood smell. The construction feels good and so is the predraw, which tastes like tobacco.

I taste a very nice wood flavor, mild sweet with an earthy note and some pepper. Flavors are full but smooth and well balanced. The pepper and the sweetness fade away after half an inch, I now taste herbs, earth and a hint of chocolate.

After an inch the chocolate gets a bit stronger. Passed the midpoint I get more herbs and more pepper with a little bit of chocolate.

This cigar lasted me for an hour and twentyfive minutes. I got a lot of medium thick smoke. The draw and the burn are great. The pepper and salt colored ash is firm. The wrapper tore at two thirds, but I could still smoke the cigar. The purge was big. This cigar is full flavored and medium bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? Next time I go to Vegas, I'll get some more.

Appearance: 7 / 10
Construction: 8/ 10
Draw: 8 / 10
Burn: 8 / 10
Smoke & ash: 8 / 10
Aroma first part: 8 / 10
Aroma second part: 8 / 10
Aroma third part: 8 / 10

I like the double robusto better than the robusto. I have not tried the Corona Gorda but want to. They are all fantastic cigars.

The Corona Gorda IMO is an awesome smoke las year when AF did limited distribution it was the only size my local B&M got or the only one they had when I got there, and I loved it.

walk from the casino into the colloseum mall, take a right at the first fountain, keep walking till you reach the escelators. Casa Fuente is next to the escelators, on the left.
