Another one bites the dust
The wife and I had our friends over for dinner and some drinks this evening. My friend Jon and I were standing at the bar and he flipped open the desktop I have sitting at the bar by the liquor. He said I have too many cigars that the humidor was full (it's only a 50 count that was my second humidor ever ).
I asked him if he had ever seen the Vino. I took him upstairs and showed him where I stored the rest of the smokes. He said that he would like to get into cigars, as an alternative to cigarettes. Bad idea for him to mention his desire to get into cigars. I set him up with a 25 count humidor I had sitting under the bed for months, along with about 40 cigars. I told him I wanted to give him a few good cigars for special occasions. He has no idea what I gave him, but I'm happy to share my hobby with my best friend. I have been waiting for this day, and it finally came (that's what she said). Sorry for the long post, I'm just happy my friend finally came around. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone. +Drew

Nice Drew! It's always nice to have more friends that share your passion and hobby. Just make sure to tell him to concentrate on not inhaling...my friends who smoke cigarettes have had bad experiences with cigars just because they inhaled them sigh.

Re: Another one bites the dust
I tried doing this with a buddy of mine who said the same thing. He still has the cigars I gave him two years ago. It didn't quite click with him. Gotta keep trying though.

Re: Another one bites the dust
two weeks ago, a friend of mine went to the office w/ me to help
me set up a new desk that we got in. I took him out for pizza afterwards and we stopped by my local to kill some time. I bought him one of the new "Swag" corona's and grabbed a perdomo fresco maduro for myself. He couldn't believe how good it was, and started telling everyone that called his phone what he did that day and how he'd found himself a new hobby. I haven't seen him since but i've spoken to him a couple of times on the phone. He's a contractor by trade and he's been doing sketches. He wants to start building custom humidor rooms for people in their homes. I'm going to have to buy him his first humidor and gift him some smokes... Great Gesture Drew p.s. The funny thing is, now i have the guy that can build my humidor room in my basement in the new house! (And i'd never thought about it before!) |

I did the very thing to my good friend about a year ago... nice 50ct hummi... an old colibi light , my first davidoff cutter and a hand full of smokes... I dont think he smoked em but every time we get together at my place we do burn quite a few...
Great story , thanks for sharing... |

Re: Another one bites the dust
Good job Drew!!
I got 100ct humi in my vino waiting on trays. When they do come in, I'm gifting a good friend who likes cigars, but not too much, because he don't know what to get and where to get them. Im going to set him up with some "noob" smokes that I don't care for (not junk though) and give him my humi along with a list of good online retailers. |
