Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
READ THIS CAREFULLY!
I'd like a newb that writes reviews and enjoys cigars for a little blind taste test fun. You need to have around 100 posts, at least 1 or 2 trader feedbacks (a send and receive in the NST, for instance) and to have written some reviews already. I'd like it if you're fairly new to smoking and just trying new stuff. You'd be obligated to write reviews and enjoy some cigars.. that's about it (painful, eh?). Post here why you should be the one and link some of your reviews. The way you write your reasons will be considered too... Previous threads for reference (and some damned good reading, too ): Blind Taste Test Thread #1 Blind Taste Test Thread #2 |

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
Dude - I'm all over this!
I have historically broke my reviews down into four parts: Construction Initial Flavors Continuing Flavors With Whisky Here are some of my past reviews: H Upmann Mag 48 EL 2009 Kensington Chateau maduro Liga Privada T52 601 Red Habano Fuente Magnum R One of the main reasons I smoke cigars is to enjoy the experience of trying new ones. My "inventory" is comprised of a lot of singles and five packs so I can try a whole range of cigars - the variation in flavors is a major benefit! The same goes for single malt scotch, rum, wine, etc. I've enjoyed scotch for a much longer period than I have cigars - but teasing out the flavors in scotch has helped with pulling out notes in cigars. So far, I'd estimate that I've been smoking for about 6 months, so am still relatively new. I've wanted to try one of these blind taste tests, but haven't been able to get into one yet. Would be very happy to try! |

Very good, Matt! The only thing I'd ask it that if you get accepted into this that you post your reviews in the created review thread on this forum instead of on a separate site.
Apart from that, that's a solid entry! |

I might be a little too new for this, but you can check the review I just wrote for the Illusione '888'.

I need a better excuse to smoke WHEN I want. (Insert loving comment about the Wife here)
Here is a review of mine: Party Short Seriously? I have over 400 posts? Seems like less!

Dball.. I didn't get active around here until January....
I think some of the brothers around here will agree that i'm your man if you haven't made your picks already... (i haven't read through the thread to see!) p.s. All of my ratings come from the NST Sampler Trades except for 1 purchase in January! |

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
I guess I didn't read your initial post very well Dan!
I've been Active on the forums since January. (Although I joined last november!) In less than a year, i've grown from a Cigar Dummy, to a true Aficionado. I remember the days when I used to buy all the cheap *ish* from CI just because i thought i was getting a good bargain off of MSRP! Only to learn later that "Hey these things actually "Taste" like something, have very unique flavors and I wasn't just smoking to get a buzz anymore... I don't know when I started writing reviews last year, but I've gotten hooked to sharing my experiences with my brother's and sister's and I'm looking to further hone my skills. Thus my reason for applying for a spot in your review thread. As far as trader ratings go: I have have 1 from a purchase, 2 from the NST, and 1 from the Pipe NST! So I feel as though i'm still pure in terms of what you seek! Here are some of my reviews I hope that you enjoy perusing them and that I make the final cut! Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
Newbs... don't be afraid to step up for this. Even if you've only been here a month. If you have less than 100 posts, that may not instantly disqualify you. I really would like to find people fairly new to cigars in general for this (never seen or smoked a cuban cigar? even better...), as that is the primary purpose of the thread.
It's an easy thing... all you've gotta do is smoke 1 cigar a week and take 5 pics of each one. Simple as pie. Plus, you never know, some of the cigars may be decent... |

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
Just saw this thread...I don't know if I qualify or not. I'm definitely a newb on the forums and have around the right number of posts, but I've been smoking cigars for about 5 years, only recently have I started getting more serious about it. Here is my first review I posted recently. If I qualify I'd love to do this!
Reasons why I think I would be good to review these is my palate for cigars is really just opening up. Up until the last couple months I've smoked a very small group of cigars and didn't ever really sit down and taste them. Only recently have I branched out in my cigars that I smoke and have tried to start detecting the subtle nuances of a cigar that really open it up into an enjoyable experience. The reason I would love to do blind taste tests is because even though I sat down and reviewed this cigar (below), I still knew the description of it as others have tasted it. Going into something blind would not only a) challenge me, but b) be interesting to see what I taste without "knowing" what to taste for. Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 3)
I would be interested in this for sure. I haven't written a review which could knock me out, but have done a lot with the CAO review thread. Been here since Feb, on round 2 of the NST. I'll try to throw down a review sometime soon and edit this post or post again. peace!
