Heart rate monitors
Looking for a heart rate monitor in the sub-$100 range that has an extra large chest strap (mine is 48''). Been googling and haven't found anything. Any ideas?
Thanks, MCS

Re: Heart rat monitors
sub $100 you'll have to get a much older model of a HRM with strap, maybe Ebay?
There are HRMs that do not need chest straps. I believe they take the pulse from your wrist. Linky

Unless you're dead set on having one w/ a chest strap, go with the wristwatch hrms. They usually start out around $70.

Re: Heart rat monitors
Go for the cheapest name brand one you can find. The chest strap fails and they end up being the cost of another crappy set. All the features you need is average heart rate, max heart rate and real time heart rate.
I have gone through several and swore I would only buy cheap ones like Reebok or Polar close outs. Try cycling stores online like Nashbar.com Sigma Sport PC14 Heart Rate Monitor $35.00

I concur with trying the Polar--I picked up the FS2 model at Target for about $60. Been really happy with it, very reliable and accurate. You shouldn't have any problems with the adjustable chest strap.
