New Fuente Product Tip
So I just spoke with an industry insider (no names, don't want anyone getting in trouble for early info), and learned a bit about a new product that he heard from Keith Park of Prometheus.
Supposedly the new release version of the Opus X Lost City that has been a hit with most Opus smokers is coming soon. Basically the Lost City was a limited release of some limted tobacco that came from the Casa Fuente harvest while the Lost City film was being made. In an attempt to capitalize on the sucess of this limited Opus release, Prometheus is contracting with the Fuentes to make a regular production version of this cigar. There will be two new smokes coming out of this arrangement, one will be known as the Opus X Braveheart. No details on sizes or price, but that it will be similar to the Prometheus release of the God of Fire cigars, in that it will be regular production and made/blended by the Fuentes. Can't wait to get my hands on this one |

So, are they going to do more off-season planting? Unless they do, I don't understand how this product could relate to the Lost City nor how it could differ from other Opus X.

Voila ! That $12 opus is now $37 but hey it's a limited edition right? What would us Opus smokers do with a 400% markup for a ring of paper and fancy presentation? "In an attempt to capitalize on the sucess of this limited Opus release, Prometheus is contracting with the Fuentes to make a regular production version of this cigar." This statement by Parks shoiud simply to shortened to " In an attempt to capitalize on the success of Opus..." LMAO NOT! |

Re: New Fuente Product Tip
Great news but wouldn't this tarnish the idea behind the Lost City?

See, even the Machine that the Fuente Family is, they can still learn from Upstarts like Hansotia.

I like Opus X's but not for the premium you pay for them. I think AF has better sticks for a few dollars more...
Speaking of, I finally smoked an Anejo the other day. Very tasty stick. Very very good |

I've always had a problem with this. I like the Opus X, but the hype, scarcity, price, etc.. is just ridiculous. They're good, but not that good.
If the price came down and availability came up, I would put these in regular rotation. but as it stands I will continue to pick up a handful around the holidays and smoke them on occasion or give them as gifts. I think most people are the same way, and it seems Fuente is fine with that. |
