Going to Philly area for a week - Holts?
I've got business in Cherry Hill, NJ the week of 7 Dec. Heard that Holts in Philly is the place to go.
Does this place have a sit down area to smoke? Distance to Holts from Cherry Hill? Any south Jersey/Philly BOTL help me out? Thanks

For sure!
Where you really want to go is upstairs from Holts - Mahogany. Center city Philly is about 20 minutes from Cherry Hill. Pick a day and time and we'll see if we can get something together for you.

I can't join you, but GO TO HOLTS!
Visited Holts today, and got my holiday assortment: 6 AF Hemingway Classic maduros 2 AF Anejo #55 2 San Cristobal Seleccion del Sol 1 RP Royal Order 1 My Father Eminente, cedar 1 Padron 88 maduro sampler They also have plenty of VSGs, many ESGs, Gran Anniversarios, PAMs, OpusX Perf#4, Anejo #46 and #48, and more. They expect more Fuente stuff in soon. My work schedule prevents me from joining you. Using the Hi-Speed Line (train) from the Cherry Hill/Voorhees area makes sense. Go to the last stop in Philly and walk around the block. You're in for a treat, especially at this time of year. And the cigar bar upstairs, Mahogany, is first class. I like the bar area best. Lots of ambiance. Chemyst Last edited by Chemyst; 11-28-2009 at 09:59 PM. |

Definitely go to Holts when in Philadelphia! It has a real nice smoking area right after you pass thru the humidor section. The store staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Also in the smoking area there is a older lady, that empties the ashtrays makes coffee, and generally keeps the place tidy. Great conversationalist, and knows a lot of good eateries near the Walnut street store.

listen to Andrew! I did when I was in Philly and he was right about Holts and Mahogany. Also try to hook up with the local crew, that is a great bunch of people, except for Big Ash, he's mean

Okay all you locals, I'm trying to work out a day that week to come into the city. More to follow.
I know Holts carries some items I can't get here in NC so I really need to make this trip. I'm looking forward to this.

Mahoganny is great. I was there earlier this month. Kinda pricy, but they didn't pressure you to smoke their stuff or buy a minimum amount of drinks.

Okay, I just looked at the training schedule for next week and it looks as if Tuesday would be the best day.
What will it be like taking a cab from Cherry Hill to Holts at 4 in the afternoon?

Re: Going to Philly area for a week - Holts?
4 wouldn't be too bad. The traffic wouldn't pick up until a little later and most of it would be heading the opposite direction anyway. I'd expect to pay over $25 plus the $4 bridge toll.
I can echo the advice above to try to take PATCO, it is really easy and there is a stop right in Cherry Hill. So we are shooting for Tuesday around 5 pm?

Re: Going to Philly area for a week - Holts?
Don't waste your $ on a cab. Get more smokes!
The PATCO Hi-Speed Line costs $5.40 from the Woodcrest Station, off of I-295 just south of Cherry Hill, to 16th and Locust St. in Philly. Walk around the block to the north, and Holts is 1522 Walnut St. Mahogany is very nice. Nice comfy chairs, TV over the bar, nice relaxing music. Buy your smokes at Holts and carry them upstairs. Order a drink, maybe some food. Menu is limited, but interesting. Read the names on the cigar lockers. Relax and enjoy. Chemyst |
