Oyster Eating Contest
Knightdale Seafood and BBQ Resturant here where I live was having an "All-You-Can-Eat Raw Oyster Contest" Thursday....what the heck I entered.
You had ten (10) minutes to eat as many raw oysters as you could.... 1st Prize - Trophy, Plaque w/picture on the wall, $100.00 gift certificate and two tickets to see Toby Keith and Trace Adkins 2nd Prize - Trophy, Miller Light hat and t-shirt 3rd Prize - Trophy, Miller Lite hat and t-shirt The 1st prize winner ate 219 raw oysters in 10 minutes, 2nd prize winner ate 168 raw oysters in 10 minutes and 3rd prize winner (Me) ate 161 raw oysters in ten minutes. I thought I could average 20 a minute but was only able to pull off 16.1 a minute. 3rd prize was a damn nice feeling....don't think I'll ever do it again though! |

Re: Oyster Eating Contest
I'm use to eating silver dollar size oysters from Cheasapeake Bay, I asked the owner where these came from last night and he said they had them flown in from Texas....that explains why must of them were the size of "chicken breasts!"

Re: Oyster Eating Contest
Nice work on the 3rd place finish.
How much did all that cost?

Re: Oyster Eating Contest
Congrats on winning 3rd place. A lot of the raw bars around charge $2.50 per oyster. So that would be $402.50 worth of oysters! What a great deal to eat all those for $15 bucks. Good job!

Re: Oyster Eating Contest
As much as I love oysters, I could never eat them like that. The previous poster thought that free or cheap would make it a must to at least pretend to try to eat alot, but I wouldn't and wouldn't. I love em raw, fried, baked in a pie, Oysters Mosca, you name it. But that love wouldn't last long if I tried that.
