Hello everyone. My name is Jacob and I am Jarrod's friend that will be participating in the fantasy baseball league. I wanted to introduce myself and tell you guys that its a priviledge to be able to play fantasy baseball with you all. I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope to get to know you all as the season progresses.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball For Stakes And The Troops
Welcome, I'd like to lay claim to last right now if I could.
Baseball is not my strong fantasy sport at all, it ranks right there with hockey for me in terms of player knowledge. Now the NFL on the other hand!!!!

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball For Stakes And The Troops
Scott I've never played Head to Head scoring before can you explain to me how it works? Do you get 1 point for winning the stat against your opponent? Say like I have 7 HR's vs 5 HR's do I get 1 point for winning the HR category? There's 20 possible points for the week?

Quote:
I think there's 20 possible points, it's dictated by how many categories we have, and I forget how many I made. The season scores by W/L/T, so weekly wins against a team don't really factor much unless you get to tie-breakers at playoff time. If you can stay above .500, you're in good shape. .560 usually wins top seed in the playoffs, it's that tight. Factor that stuff in your strategy, because if you go for all 20 points every week, you generally lose miserably. Target 10 categories and build a strong team around those, then do what you can with the other 10. Some weeks your matchups will yield 18 points, but that's thin. If you haven't built around categories, the next week you'll end up winning 2.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball For Stakes And The Troops
I've won a couple leagues using that strategy.....but I think I will try and make the live draft this time around. After playing fantasy sports for nearly 20 years, it all comes down to injuries and waiver pick ups! The season isn't won or lost on draft day
