The game got off to a rough start when Ryan O'Byrne, an Avalanche defenseman, had his face slashed by the blade of a passing skater as he skated low behind the net some four minutes after the first puck was dropped. Bleeding badly from the cut, O'Byrne nevertheless managed to skate off the ice and was escorted into the locker room for initial treatment before being taken to a nearby hospital. ''He suffered a bad cut on his face,'' Colorado coach Joe Sacco said. ''They had to take him to get sewn up. Anytime a skate gets near the face, it's always dangerous and scary. I'll know more tomorrow ... I'm sure he'll be fine at the end of the day.'' Quick video... It makes it appear and the article indicates that he skates off after it happens, which was not the case. Finished the shift, but you could tell he was hurting... I flinch every time I have seen it... OUCH! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcEyQ...layer_embedded |

I cant remember a year like this so late in the year. Teams are jumping in and out of the last 5 spots nightly. If this keeps up you could see teams go from 5th to out in the final week.

Bruins, beat the Canucks ranked no 1 in just about every category on their own home ice.
Milan Lucic had a big home coming he was the fifth player to be entered into the Vancouver Giants' ring of honour Friday night I wish I could have stayed awake for more then five minutes at a time, I hate the west coast night games

Those West Coast games do Blow. Especially on a Saturday night they could do that game a nine and get a better viewership. From what I saw they played really well last night. I saw the highlights this morning and man o' man Krejci and Lucic are playing out of this world. It's nice to see this team keeping it together even after all trades.

We can thank the Red Wings for that, management realized the B's were just not good enough.
A fast deep fore checking team would keep them in bottled up hence the trade for Kaberle, he is more like a forward then a defenceman.

For us, but imagine the poor people there who can't watch a Bruins - Canadiens game from Boston on a weekday because it's 4:30 in Cali and they are still at work.

Yeah I mean what are these people doing. There clearly is not enougg eastcoast bias. I mean any time a east coast team plays on the west coast we should change the usual game start times. Who cares if the west coast people have to rearrange schedules so long as the east coast fans dont have to stay up late.
I think there is more then enough east coast bias in game scheduling and league coverage. |

I think the Saturday games can start earlier and the viewership would not change one bit for the west coast and it would go up for the East coast. The week day games we all just have to deal with it. By the way Of course I'm bias.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
I can tell you given my schedule 430 is bad. I would imagine most families who have children in sports and other activities would agree also.
what your arguing goes against all major sporting leagues research and scheduling. I think the leagues have a better understanding of peoples lives. I will assume you are joking about 430 and viewership as I cant take that seriously. 430is the middle of the day for most and they are doing things. Given the fringe nature of the sport it would hurt viewership. They wont even do it in Canada because it would hurt ratings. Especially on the weekends. Its family time, its before dinner, it lacks logic to have sporting events at that time. Thats why they dont and wont do it. Hell why not games at 130. Good Hawks game tonight btw. Got home from rink in time to catch the 2nd. Last edited by Ahbroody; 02-27-2011 at 08:28 PM. |

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
If you thing the rare time when east coast teams play west coast teams during the regular season are bad, try being in the Easter time zone when your hockey team has to play Vancouver, San Jose, and/or Anahiem in the playoffs. They usually don't start until 10:00 PM EST and don't finish until 1:00AM.
As much as I'd miss the Wing's/Blackhawk and the Wings/Blues division games and playoff series, the Wings belong in the Eastern Conference.

B's win sixth straight first time since 72 ( the last time the B's won the cup) for a perfect road trip.
The Senators played a a great game giving the B's all they could handle. Rask shut them out 1-0

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Not much, plus they just came into the leage what, last year? Make 'em wait their turn.
I don't think you mean that Mike. If the Wings went to the East, you'd stand a good chance of facing them in the finals should your Sharks make it. The way I figure, the Wings would be in finals most every year if they played in the East.

Nemo will be the Sharks goalie for the next 4 years. After the team has gotten comfortable with him and he with the team it has really been clicking. Tough for Nitty see him at the rink evwry week. His boy is in Micahs league.
