Love that watch! My everyday wearer is a Breitling SuperOcean with a black face. That yellow sure looks cool!

| Still Watching My Back | Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?

Everyday wear is an $80 Timex. The ONLY cool thing about this watch is the orange face. I own a Submariner that I bought in 1982-it's been with me thru thick And thin. It's promised to my son when he graduates next May, so I don't wear it much anymore. I'm looking for a diver style watch with an orange face. I've been looking at the Seiko Orange Monster. Does anyone know of a better alternative in the same general price range? Thank you.

This is my daily wearer... Victorianox Basecamp... Comes with a LIFETIME warranty. I have had a few minor issues here and there, ship it to Switzerland and they ship it back in 2 weeks... has paid for itself 1000x over... Mine is actually the model that came before this one... Black face with red and white accents... I think it looks better then this subdued stainless face |

It's amazing the valuation Patek watches have had over the last 15 years. They went from very expensive to way-way-expensive, I think due to Chinese market. Good investment watch.

Not to sound disagreeable, but that is never a good reason to buy something.

I buy and wear wristwatches for fun and not investing. I do invest in old pocketwatches, especially when I can save one from the gold melters. Here is a 120 year old 18s Waltham in 14k that was destined to be melted down for the gold. I couldn't let that happen to this beautiful case. It's so fine that I think it spent most of it's life stored away in a sock drawer. You just don't see them in this condition anymore. The cost to recreate a case like this today would be outrageous and I just can't believe that anybody would be willing to destroy this piece of history for greenbacks. That's me though, I'm different. Larry |
