Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I look at things like the executive, a giant double corona and just a perfect cigar. The Padron Panatela is as about as good a NC LSP as you will find. The robusto and toro sizes are perfectly blended. The tobacco TASTES better to me, but I am a Nic ho. Fuente has all my respect, but they are just all over the place with blends and wrappers and line extensions. I can't cope. GREAT cigars, but not as good overall as Padron, JIMOO.
And who am I kidding, I haven't had one of either in 8-9 years, |

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
In honor of this thread I pulled out a Padron 1926. Mehhh... it is decent. Perfect construction, nice volume of smoke, but the flavor is very muted. Reaffirms my vote for Fuente.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Both make quality smokes, I prefer the flavor profile of Padron.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Looks to be pretty one sided at this point. I think I am going to need to smoke a couple more Padrons.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I don't really know if I could choose one. Hope I'm never in the situation where I can only smoke one brand for the rest of my life but if I were in that situation I'd hope it would be one of these two!

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I went with fuente only because I felt forced to pick one. I smoked 6 fuentes this week and only 3 padrons so I guess I will go with the fuentes for now. Not really a fair question fuente offers so much as far as choices go.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I love them both, but if I had to choose one, I'd have to go with Fuente.

Arturo Fuente.
I just had my first Arturo Fuente Don Carlos, it was the Robusto. It was very expensive but such a fantastic cigar. I mainly smoke Habanos, but after smoking this I am definately going to be looking more into Arturo Fuente and NC cigars. |

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
If I was forced to go with just one it would depend on the particular cigar. I would flip a coin. No problem here with either of those brands.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I have to go with Padron. However Fuente makes some good smokes and they are usually easier to find at a good price then the Padrons with the exception of the high end cigars.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I like the Padron 1926 Anniversary very much, and would have, until recently, voted for Padron. Then I had my first, second and third Anejo, and that, for me, gives Arturo Fuente a slight edge.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I voted Padron because I love the padron maddies from the '000 series to the '64 and '26, they are amazingly consistent and like I said, I love the flavor. The only thing with picking padron is that it is consistent to the point of boring. You better like the flavor because it is what it is over and over and over. That said the fuente line is far more diverse but not nearly as consistent. I have had Opus cigars that blew me away and others that were quite disappointing and this goes for most of the fuente line. If fuente could get their quality control to the same level as padron with their diversity I would definitely pick the fuente but my experience with fuente to this point is hit or miss.
The anejo's are more hit than miss though. |

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
lots of wiggle room there, as a line Fuente has more to offer and at different price range but I'd put a 1964 up against a hemmingway classic anyday. Fuente for me....

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I am not sure if I could decide between the higher end stuff in their lines. Truthfully I don't like the Padron X000 series or any of the regular production Fuente stuff. I like PAM and PAN 40th and 80th and Opus, Anejo and DCM.
