Re: Lighting With Cedar
I will usually light that way when they are wrapped in cedar, and i certainly like the notion that it is a "Romantic" lighting method.

Re: Lighting With Cedar
Just make sure if you are lighting a cigar with cedar roll from tubo or cedros not to hold it at an angle where the high point is where you hand is. The flame has to be the high point if you are holding a cylinder. The cylinder will heat up real fast and you could end up dropping a flaming cedar strip and/or burn your hand.
I love using the cedar when I remember. It's a little razzle-dazzle at herfs for those unfamiliar.

I believe the Davidoff matches are made from cedar. If you could find some (or equivalent) that might be a better idea. My BIL lights up his cigars with cedar almost exclusively. He has gotten quite good at it.

Re: Lighting With Cedar
I use cedar now and then, I enjoy the smell of it burning but really doesn't boost the enjoyment of the cigar...besides I get dogged by MAC, VOLT, and Barry for using it and I like the attn....NOT

Not all of them do. But the older ones were made of cedar. There might be some other company out there now too.

Re: Lighting With Cedar
Just like a lot of the stuff we do revolving around cigars, it's ritualistic, enjoy it when you can!

Re: Lighting With Cedar
Make a little campfire with the cedar in your ash tray and then light it with your torch after you light your cigar.

Re: Lighting With Cedar
Are the grilling sheets the same type of cedar? Aren't the strips and sheets that would be included with the cigars Spanish cedar, which is vastly different from the aromatic cedar that you would grill with???
