I guess what really made up my mind to join here was the response to the (highly) misguided Cigar O'Byrnes (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=41373). He was given the benefit of the doubt that his intentions weren't pure evil. In all likelihood he was someone who thought he had a good idea, got very excited about it, but didn't think it through. Regardless of what his intentions were I thought the reaction on this site (vs. others) was indicative of what I was looking for

Never heard of any such thing. Upon arriving at CA (the only cigar forum) I found no need to ponder the thought if there was another forum to talk about cigars.

I agree with Taltos, they lurk in the background for the most part, but it's RULES and moderation
that keep THIS board sane. But to clarify, the reason the rules can be in the background is that in the main,
the people here are simply a better class of folks. And in addition to that, the same people who are jerks on
other boards watch their lip when they post here, or end up gone.

I really lucked out. When I finally figured out there were such a things as online cigar forums (silly me...don't know why it took me until 2010 to figure that out) I googled "cigar forum" and this was the first one that was listed.

I poked around for about two minutes, signed up and never looked back
