Yep, try your local Credit Unions. There has to be one that you can become a member of and they usually offer more. All the fees are to help pay for the CEO/Presidents bonus.

I would consider switching banks I had a heck of a time with BoA and their silly fees, in fact it took almost 6 months just to close two accounts. I now use a small local bank and USAA. No problems. Good luck with the issue, and I hope it gets resolved quickly.

Mandatory balances are seemingly becoming more common. Direct deposit sometimes takes care of that. Either way, $1500 seems a bit steep. The most I've heard of is $500 or else. I would definitely go to another bank.
