Re: Punch or Cut?
The first time I started smoking cigars (about 10 years ago for about a year) I was using a punch strictly. When started smoking cigars again (about 2 years ago) I was using only cutters. Now, I've been experimenting with punches to increase some draw resistance.
But, by and large, I'm a cut kinda guy. |

Re: Punch or Cut?
Well now feeling like the village/Asylum idiot I have heard the term punch but never really looked at what it meant.
I have always used the Palio cutter but I am in the market for a newer one, mine doesnt seem like it cuts like I want it to. Open for suggestions/PM's on new cutters/or my Palio. Now going back to studying cigars, Jason |

Re: Punch or Cut?
I cut 99 % of the time. I have used the V-cut, don;t like the punch (tar buildup) I stick with the cut.

Re: Punch or Cut?
Cut 100% of the time. Actually I've never smoked a cigar that's been punched. Though I comtemplated buying a punch when I was doing alot of flying.

I really like a punch cut but I have found the key is using/finding the right size. Also if you do not have the punch centered on the cap when you cut, it can cause an uneven burn. I realized this after observing a few times that the side the opening was closer to was burning farther down. |

Re: Punch or Cut?
Started with a punch, now cut almost everything. A friend of mine usually smokes cigars in his garage, where his favorite cutter is located. Yeah, he uses a coping saw, no joke, a coping saw!!

Re: Punch or Cut?
I went through a punch phase where I'd punch my cigars in a figure 8 (i.e. two punches). Once I learned out to properly cut a cigar I stopped punching and strictly cut using my Xikar. I have a punch on the end of my Prometheus that I usually offer to friends but don't use myself anymore.

Re: Punch or Cut?
I haven't punched since the last time when the concentration about made me sick. I guillotine or rarely v-notch.

Re: Punch or Cut?
I use both. Depends on what I'm smoking, if it's a decent size rg and not a belicoso I usually use a punch if it's not I cut.

Re: Punch or Cut?
From what I understand the Palio has a lifetime warranty. Go into a b&m that sells Palio and they will swap it out for a new one. if Mark (OpusX at CS) was here, he could provide you with more details (Mark is co-owner of Palio and a good BOLT)
