My mom played fast pitch softball for years and used to say "There should be such a thing as a mental error, and it should show up on the scoresheet as an 'E' just like the regular kind."

Not again this year, unless we're looking at Dan's already predetermined playoff schedule.

Re: Red's Fans Check in
Is Stubbs .218 really making up for an extra 3 feet of range in the outfield?
Honestly, How come he is an automatic in the lineup like Votto and Phillips, even when he struggles so bad and can't contribute?

Re: Red's Fans Check in
Dusty just can't manage this team, I am convinced of it. This lineup he has been playing, its a minor miracle they are even in contention. They still can't find two guys to put in front of the best player in the NL. Rolen plays almost every game when he is healthy, their outfield has one consistent player and one guy who plays every game despite batting lower than the other two who can play his position. Their bullpen makes you want to beat your head against the wall with the number of runners they put on base and they still don't have a true closer.
Maybe its just me

Re: Red's Fans Check in
I know you guys like messing with me, but something has got to give. Batting #2 and not even being able to get on base since his stint on the DL is just plain awful. Votto has the MVP in his favor with Kemp out for so long, but when Bruce leads the team in RBI because Votto bats with the bases empty, it has to be frustrating to him.
Unfortunately, their lineup is so jacked with Rolen out/not doing anything. Ideally they have to change the top end, but they need Phillips to protect Votto. If it is my team, the lineup looks something like this: Phillips Hannigan/Mesoraco Votto Bruce Ludwick Frazier Cozart Heisey/Stubbs Pitcher But for some reason, Dusty has to play Stubbs everyday and in the 1 or 2 hole. Just makes games like last night tough to watch.

No- Stubbs cannot be batting second with his average! He needs to be down in the order. Dusty does need to do something- Stubbs' precious ego be damned.

Re: Red's Fans Check in
and yet ANOTHER excellent Dusty Baker decision to "follow" baseball etiquette by removing a pitcher after 7 innings of shutout baseball. Yet the Reds still are having issues driving in runs as of late...alas...

Re: Red's Fans Check in
If they don't win the division, I don't think there is any question it is Dusty's managing (or lack there of) is to blame. He just makes terrible decisions with his pitchers and his lineup.

Re: Red's Fans Check in
Heisey with a double and a triple yesterday, today, he'll be back to the bench for Stubbs.

Re: Red's Fans Check in
Yep. He made a sweet diving play yesterday too. I agree about him being on the bench. When Heisey hits a HR, my dad says "Dumbass, why would you hit a home run? Now you will be benched tomorrow"
