I don't really mean fickle, but you know, Most 1911's are hand fitted, so whoever does the work really needs to be on the ball, or you can run into problems real quick
I think the fact that there are SO MANY diff manufacturers of mag and 1911s is the problem. I think once you find the brand/model that works best in your gun then you are golden. Hell, my $450 AC2 made in the Philippines runs fantastic

Gotta love the Vbob!

i think 1911's are like many other guns, some are better than others. The real problem is that its hard to mfg a cheap 1911 reliably. the design lends itself to some fitting and that is not cheap. Additionally, as mentioned above, magazines are a big potential issue. even my Dan Wesson mags will not lock the slide back (I'v sent many back to DW and they're all the same). But, with Wilson mags, my Vbob will eat any type of ammo and I've only had one failure in >>3k rounds.

I also have a Springfield Loaded and it was a huge POS out of the box. gritty trigger, sharp edges, several FTEs, etc. I sent it back to Springfield and now it is spectacular: trigger job, melding, feed ramp polishing, etc. Kind of annoyed I had to send it for warranty work, but Springfield was great to deal with and my gun is almost as good as the DW for half the price.

Nice Family Photo, I use my DW mags and Chip McCormick power mags. I haven't had a failure yet in almost 1000 rounds

Man, you get a lot of pistol for your money with the Valor Series of pistols

Agreed, I use Wilson Combat mags in my VBOB as well. Never had them fail to fire.

The gun is amazing.

That things a hog leg prolly only holds 14 rds between the both mags, that's only 1 more then a Glock 21 (13rds.) You would be reloading all the time!! Would rather the just have a 21, sorry.

Does anyone have any experience with trying to get a CCW in Massachusetts? I looked at getting one back in MI, where I still have residence possibly, but MA doesn't honor MI's ccw.

I heard it's a wicked pain in the ass, looking for some positive feedback!!!

Your best bet would be to research the requirements for a CCW in your state, also stop by a court house or a police precinct and they can generally point you in the right direction.

I have one, it depends on what town you live in.The first thing to do is inquire at your local police station about it. Its completely at the discretion of the chief of police in your town. It was no problem in my town, but the next town over will not issue you one period. Nothing you can do about it. You have to take a pistol course (full day class around $100) then apply at the police station. Thats another $100 and anywhere from 1 month to whenever they feel like getting back to you! You have to have a bunch of background checks done, and they will find anything you've done so be honest on the application. after you pass all that the Chief has the final say, and if he doesn't like the shirt you're wearing he can say no. The laws are very vague and made that way to discourage people. Good luck and welcome to the Peoples Republic of Mass!!!
