Default Interesting Ebay Deal

I was looking around online and I ended up on Ebay...not sure why. I came across water pillows and thought I would share it here.

Water Pillows are more for if you wanna keep your cigars for an extra few days on a trip... To be honest tho, products like these usually tend to over humidify your cigars making them hard to smoke.

These are also good when shipping cigars especially in the dryer months. They're always coming up on Monster.

I have had good luck with them in small, 20-40 ct humidors. Make sure to season the humidor first.

That looks to be a good deal except for the $9.00 for shipping. I bet they would all fit in a small flat rate USPS priority box for $5.00 and change.

I've read that ad copy several times and it is hard to believe the price. 300 water-pillows for $15 + S&H? Did I miss something?

Used a zillion of the things when I was sending sticks to the troops. Really handy to have nor were they cheap. Now you see a bunch of places hawking them for a buck apeice.

IIRC, there was a thread many months ago, where someone had an entire pallet of Water Pillows or boveda packs(can't seem to find it searching), and maybe this is the same guy, or the guy who bought the pallet.

Was it in the same warehouse sitting next to the pre-embargo tobacco leaf that was lost through the years?

I use them in my coolers. I only need one pillow in a 78 qt cooler and it keeps a steady 64%. I recharge them every few months.

Are you guys both talking about the standard 2.5"x2.25" (or so) sized pillow? I'd imagine keeping a 78qt cooler and a 40-count humidor would require different solutions. But if pillows are that versatile...

I have a 30ct cigar caddy and use 2 water pillows between foam layers 1 and 2 and they work prefectly. Nothing seems over-humidified and I like my cigars on the dry side.

Recharge them once a month or so and they will keep everything happy.

Interesting you guys having so much good luck with these... Almost makes the ebay deal worth it... and big time too. That added in with the fact you could send them along with cigar trades as a nice gesture... hmmm...

In my cooler I used beads that are made of the same material that is in the water pillows. In my cooler I put some of the beads in a small zip lock freezer bag, using the boxes to hold the bag upright. This bag of beads is probably equivalent in size to about 4 or 5 pillows. My cooler must not seal as tight as NCRadioman's. But when I check the cooler and the RH is to high zip the bag closed until it reaches the low 60's RH.
You can get the Polysodium acrylate beads at Michaels Arts and Crafts stores. A little bag of these beads is less than $2.00.

Copied from Stogiefreshdotcom
The Water Pillow uses a super absorbent polymer (polysodium acrylate) as the humidification element. Super absorbent polymers (SAP) can absorb more than 500 times their weight in water. They come in the form of small beads or, in the case of the Water Pillows, in powder form.

Thanks for the clarification. Although you setup is more complicated than standard pillows, it sounds more reliable (and cheaper.) If I ever get around to setting up a cooler, this is exactly how I'll do it.

After looking at reviews online, I actually jumped and ordered them. The cheapest I could really find them online was around 50 cents each which made the lot of 300 of them really a bargain.

Anyhow, I got the package today and here they are... all 100 packages. (300 pillows)

W-O-W

That's a lot of pillows!!! Not to be confused with the 'pillows' on my girlfriend in college...
