Update, my smokes are out of the freezer a week or so and smoking fine.
The whole process isn't very hard and doesn't harm the cigars, although it takes more time than my impatient self would like to wait. All in all, I'd rather make sure none of the little bastiges make it into my humi alive, so it looks like I'm now a "freezer."
