Since air is about 80/20 nitrogen/oxygen, it can dilute the fuel. If you were truly inserting only pure oxygen, you would be making a rocket.

I knew I would get a little flak for that . Don't know why I wanted to sound smart and said Oxygen when I meant air. Thanks for the correction!
