Good Evening,
I recently deployed to Afghanistan and before I left a friend of mine, and member of Cigar Asylum, put out a call to members of the forum. From that, a large number of extraordinary cigars were donated to make the trip with me. I was asked to share these cigars with deserving soldiers over here when they needed it most. Well, two days ago we lost a comrade. Normally at home we would toast him with a shot of our favourite beverage but that's not possible over here. So instead, last night a group of us sat around a couple of rickety old tables, shared stories and raised our glowing embers in salute to our comrade. A last, emotional farewell as it were. To those of you who (and I'm sure you know who you are - but I was asked not to identify) made this possible... Thank you. Hopefully this will be the only salute we raise, but if not, please know that you have made a difference in the lives of many soldiers serving over here. Cdnmedic |

Cdn Medic, that sucks! I am sorry to hear your comrade it arms gave the ultimate sacrifice! As the Bible states:
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 KJV Just know that we are all proud of you and the fact that you voluntarily put your lives at risk every day! Keep your head down and be safe. |

God bless you and your brave comrades. May he grant you peace and comfort during your loss and protection over you during your deployment.
I am glad to hear that cigars provided you and your friends a few moments of respite and reflection. Take care!
