It's good to not draw too hard. But, you also want to space out your puffs and let the cigar cool down a bit. It won't kill you if you have to relight.

And, no disrespect, as a noobie, you may be better off choosing mild cigars. The standard recommendation is Macanudo, which ain't a bad, mild cigar.
