That's pretty much it. The main premise of the show is the House-Cutty-Wilson dynamic, his team members are very secondary to the main story which is why they can be changed up as often as they have been.

You missed nothing, I think. It has been left a mystery....
Nothing has been obvious. There was no foreshadowing issues, not even depression that could excuse it.

Pay attention to what House is looking for.

Also, realize that you never saw his face. He wasn't there for the episode. I'm wondering who he pissed off(?)

Read an article about his new job that said he was "on set" for filming. Methinks flashback episodes are in the future.
