Biting the bullet and moved things to a tupperdore...
I love the look of my humidor, it was a gift from a family member, but it just wasn't holding humidity properly. It would hover around 60% and I was recharging my beads often. Time for the sticks to go into a plastic bin and I'll figure out what to do with the humidor later.
Anyone else who's having humidity issues, I highly suggest just buying some airtight tupperware and make your life easier. |

Were your cigars not smoking to your satisfaction? Or are you just reacting to the 60% reading? All that matters is your satisfaction. 60% RH is not a bad thing in and of itself.

I tend to like them closer to 65%, but I'm more reacting to having to having to recharge my beads so often. They are supposed to be the "low maintenance" option.

How often and when you recharge them to you bag them up with a hygrometer that you trust to make sure they are at 65% ?
What kind of humidor, does it have a glass window in it and if so have you sealed around the inner edge with food safe silicon? Have you don't the paper test and tried to slide a piece of paper around the seal of the humidor? Have you thought about re-seasoning your humidor? I'm with Pete if you enjoy how they are smoking it's all good, a couple degrees is not a huge difference and I doubt one too many people could even gauge. |

One other thing to consider is the season and temperature as it relates to RH Mine during the winter drops to around 62% because the temp drops to around 65 the summer months have me at about 65 to 67 RH and 72 temp.
